Field Notes

Short notes on film photography, bread baking and slow travel.

Pushing Tri-X to 1600 in winter light

Two rolls in grey November-like weather, developed in HC-110 dilution B for eleven minutes. Grain is there, but shadows held up better than expected.

A rye starter that survived a week in the fridge

Fed once at 1:5:5, left alone for seven days, revived in two feedings. The loaf was denser than usual, still worth it.

Night train from Prague to Kraków

Couchette, six bunks, one very loud fan. Arrived at 6:40 with enough time for coffee before the old town woke up.

Scanning negatives with a camera and a light pad

A macro lens, a copy stand made of books and a cheap LED pad. Inverting in software is the slow part, not the capture.
